My name is Cindy and I have two premature children. My son is 6 and was 10 weeks early. To this day I don't know why. I did however know I was willing to do anything I could to help him get stronger. I exclusively breastfed him for his first year. Needless to say when I found out I was pregnant again in January I was very careful and saw several doctors for monitoring. I was able to stay pregnant to my 31st week where I had an emergency C-section due to HELLP syndrome. This time, like with my son I insisted on breastfeeding. However, with my daughter I found my supply vastly outpaced her need. Pretty soon the hospital was telling me to take milk home. Soon after that my freezer was full. We bought a deep freeze because I couldn't bear to throw away the milk knowing how hard I worked to pump it as well as how many moms pump and pump and never get enough. During one of my last night feedings I was on Facebook and stumbled into Eats on Feets. I immediately found two local donors. One, a couple looking to feed their adopted child breastmilk. The other a Mother with a medical condition that limits her milk production. It's hard to have a preemie but it relieves some of the pain by knowing she is helping two other children thrive. Milk Sharing is as much a savior for the donor as it is for the recipient. It feels wonderful to help.
